Sakamoto Days Manga to Receive Live Action Film Adaptation

The thrilling and comedic world of Yuto Suzuki’s popular manga, SAKAMOTO DAYS, is officially set for a live action film adaptation. The news, reported in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #43 and confirmed by other Japanese media outlets, marks a significant milestone for the series, which has quickly become a fan favorite for its unique blend of intense action and witty humor.

The live action film will follow the story of Taro Sakamoto, a former legendary hitman who has retired from the criminal underworld to live a peaceful life with his wife and daughter. Now overweight and running a local convenience store, Sakamoto must protect his family and his quiet life from a constant stream of assassins who are either seeking revenge or trying to lure him back into his old life.

In a move that has already sparked considerable buzz, the film is rumored to star Meguro Ren of the popular idol group Snow Man. The project is also said to be directed by Fukuda Yuichi, who is well known for his work on hit comedy films like the Gintama live action movies and The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.. Fukuda’s involvement suggests that the movie will lean into the manga’s comedic elements while still delivering on the high octane action.

The film is rumoured to be released in two parts, with the first part premiering during Golden Week 2026. Golden Week is one of Japan’s longest and most celebrated holiday periods, making it an ideal time for a major film release. While many of the details, including the cast and director, remain unconfirmed, an official announcement with more information is soon.

Fans are eagerly awaiting to see how the manga’s dynamic fight choreography and unique characters will be brought to life on the big screen.
