Fullmetal Alchemist Creator’s “Yomi no Tsugai” Anime Set for 2026

Fans of Fullmetal Alchemist’s legendary mangaka Hiromu Arakawa can rejoice as her latest work, “Yomi no Tsugai – Daemons of the Shadow Realm” is officially confirmed to receive a TV anime adaptation in 2026. The announcement was made during Aniplex Online Fest 2025, revealing a new trailer, cast, and key staff for the highly-anticipated series.

The series is in the hands of Bones Film, a division of the acclaimed Studio Bones, which famously animated both versions of Fullmetal Alchemist. This marks a significant reunion between Arakawa and the studio, fueling fan excitement for a high quality adaptation. The anime will be directed by the renowned Masahiro Andou, known for his work on action packed and visually stunning titles like Sword of the Stranger and Blast of Tempest.

“Yomi no Tsugai” is a fantasy battle-action story that follows a hunter boy named Yuru and his twin sister Asa. The story begins when Yuru’s remote mountain village is suddenly massacred by armed military men and he is forced to confront the shocking mystery of his identity and his relationship with his sister. The pair possess a unique birthright to command supernatural entities called “Daemons” which become central to their fight against a world of magic and intrigue.

A new cast reveal trailer has been released, confirming the voice actors for the main characters: Kenshō Ono as Yuru, Yume Miyamoto as Asa, Yūichi Nakamura as Dera, and Misaki Kuno as Gabu-chan. With the creative team and talented cast now confirmed, the anime promises to be a worthy addition to Arakawa’s legacy.
