Their children arrived on the battlefield to reinforce this emotional assault and for a brief moment, it seemed to work as Ironside and Bellatripe began to remember them.
However, the Chaos within them did not relinquish its hold easily. Instead it went “haywire” and in a horrifying transformation, it fully consumed their hosts memories and reshaped them into monstrous new forms. Bellatripe‘s sword fused with his arm and antlers sprouted from his helmet turning him into a deer like knight. Ironside gained four arms but lost his legs, becoming a floating, weaponized demon. The White Witch Worreldane and Pellegarde also underwent terrifying metamorphations. Gowther shocked by this “worst possible outcome” warned the heroes that their transformed foes were now more powerful than ever and urged them to run. The chapter ended with the title for the next installment: “Fleeting Resistance!”.
