A Classic Reborn: New Doraemon Movie Announced for 2026

The iconic Doraemon franchise is set to return to the big screen with a new movie in 2026. The 45th feature film in the long running series will be a remake of a beloved classic, titled “New Doraemon: Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil.”

The film, which is a modern retelling of the popular 1983 movie, will be directed by Tetsuo Yajima. Yajima is a veteran of the animation industry, with a notable history of directing films and series for franchises like Pokémon. The new movie is expected to be a grand undersea adventure, revisiting the story of Nobita and his friends as they discover a mysterious underwater civilization.

The original film, Doraemon: Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil saw the group exploring the ocean and uncovering the secret kingdoms of Mu and Atlantis, which were on the brink of a nuclear conflict. The remake is set to bring this epic story to a new generation of fans with updated animation and a fresh perspective.

An official teaser has been released by the Doraemon movie’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, hinting at the epic scale of the adventure to come. The movie is slated for release sometime in 2026.
